Hi! My name is Tatiana Emelianova. I live in Russia. I started making dolls in 2014.

A couple of years ago, a beautiful magazine – Daphne’s Diary – published an article about my dolls. I am very grateful to Diana and the magazine for this and I print here some quotes from there.

“Tatiana now shares her home with four dogs and five cats: They say that animals are in the world to show us how to love unconditionally. That’s probably why I sew so many animals. Because I’m constantly surrounded by them. I look into animal’s eyes, and then I try to recreate what I see there when I sew my cuddly toys’ faces.”

“It’s amazing how each of Tatiana’s doll has it’s own personality. And their eyes really do seem to tell a story.”

“At first Tanushka Toy mainly made cows and rabbits. At the moment Tatiana enjoys making cats and foxes: I fall in love with each one of my dolls, but the foxes definitely have a special place in my heart. That might have something to do with the red colour of the fabric. Red is the colour of joy.”

“When I first started, I took my inspiration from Tilda dolls”, says Tatiana. “I thought they were very original and the fact that they are sewn from natural fabrics made me love them even more.”

“In terms of materials, you don’t need all that too much to make these dolls. A nice fabric and some sewing equipment. And a bamboo stick for the frame.”
